To be worn directly on the skin, and to clean / purify each me during the full moon: 

Run your necklace under the tap water with the intention of discharging it, and cleaning it thoroughly. Then dry it rigorously and leave it under the lunar rays... Your necklace will keep all its brightness if you proceed like this :) 

And yes, the stones are alive, they absorb the bad energies and must unload them...
